Veneers

What are veneers?

Veneers are extremely thin shells that Dr. Rabor uses to transform the appearance of any tooth you want to change. Each veneer is shaped and colored to match seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. When Dr. Rabor bonds the veneer to the front of the tooth, people see the veneer instead of the underlying tooth. This gives it an instant makeover.

Dr. Rabor offers multiple types of veneers. Veneers made from porcelain have long been a favorite of patients, but she also offers dental composite veneers made from synthetic resin. Talk with her about your smile goals and she can help you identify the right type of veneer for you.

What smile issues can veneers correct?

Because veneers completely change the appearance of any tooth over which they’re placed, they’re extremely versatile. Dr. Rabor uses them to correct:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Worn teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Too-short teeth

Additionally, some people choose to get veneers over all of their teeth for a complete smile transformation.

If you have a specific tooth that bothers you or you’re looking for a way to improve your smile in general, ask Dr. Rabor about veneers. She helps you decide if veneers are the right choice for you.

What’s the process like for getting veneers?

For the veneer to lay flush with your surrounding teeth, Dr. Rabor starts the process by removing an extremely small amount of enamel from the front of your natural tooth. She then takes an impression so she can create the veneer to fit precisely over the tooth. She also color-matches the veneer to your surrounding teeth.

Once your veneer is ready, you return to her office so she can bond it in place. You leave that appointment with a transformed smile.

To protect your veneer and help it last for years, maintain good oral hygiene. Brush and floss daily and visit Chicago Dental Esthetics biannually for teeth cleanings and checkups. Also, avoid biting hard foods and clenching your teeth.

If you think veneers might be right for you, don’t hesitate to schedule your consultation with Dr. Rabor by calling the office or booking it online today.
